"Tea" Party

I first discovered Tea Collection when Liv was about 6 weeks old. I was at the beach just walking around and found a romper in a soft material and a fantastic print for the fall. It fit really well, washed well, and was 100% cotton. Being a new mom, I didn't know a lot of kids brands and also didn't know the importance of 100% cotton clothes. I realized that I stumbled upon a gem and found that Nordstrom (a suburban mom's go-to for cute clothes) carried a lot of the line.

I some how got on the catalog mailing list and got the newest catalog last week. The patterns and colors are so adorable. You can buy sets of outfits that are mix and match. I am really into navy for both Liv and for me so I got the "Soon-Hee" 6 piece set from the Korean inspired collection (pic above). Even better, I found a coupon code for 10% off (TTEN). The sandals look adorable on the models but I took them out of my online shopping cart last minute. I also got a pair of "Gypsy Capri Pants" (pics below) in navy to match the set. They run pretty true to size, although they say that some of their stuff runs a little small.

The prices are moderate (around $129 for the 6 piece Soon-Hee set before the discount) and the quality and styles are fantastic. I have only one problem with ordering from the Tea Collection website (www.teacollection.com), the charge for shipping. It was $11.95 for my order. I couldn't find a free shipping code online and I really think that they should at least offer free shipping for orders over $75 or $100.

Well mommies, if you haven't started shopping for your little one for the spring/summer, what are you waiting for?!?! And if you find anything that you think I should share with everyone else, please email me at mommyofafashionista@gmail.com.

Happy shopping!!

80s Denim for kids

I was in the Gap this weekend and wasn't really impressed with the selection. The stuff they have is cute but there isn't that much. I think they are in a transitional season but then, all of a sudden, these 80's wash jeans caught my eye...they are a really light worn wash but the cut is more modern - boyfriend jeans. The color was SCREAMING 90210 (the original show) and my sister and I couldn't look fast enough through the sizes to find a pair for each of our daughters. Now, the Gap has to come out with acid wash skinny jeans for kids. I know they sell them for adults at places like Urban Outfitters but if anyone sees them for toddlers, please let us know!!

Little Boat

When I went to Paris my junior year of college, I couldn't wait to get a Lonchamps bag, a Herve Chapelier tote, and as many Petit Bateau shirts as I could carry. I sort of forgot the brand even existed until I was looking for some basics for Liv. I am sure many of you had your share of PB's...well now it is time to buy them for someone they are actually made for!! If you go on their website, http://www.petit-bateau.us/, you will find some great basics. I don't love their "fashion" items because I do not think they are very fashionable, but my package arrived today with 2 t-shirts and 3 tanks and they are perfect!! I bought Liv a 3 and a 4 for the summer. I think they run a little small. The 3 should fit her but I think the 4 won't be too big. The basic t-shirts and tanks are under $20 each but I would definitely recommend buying a pack of two or three. They wash well and will work with a lot of spring and summer outfits!! Bon Shopping!!

For a Special Occasion...

Ooh La La....Couture that is. I am sure most of us have seen these creations but put one on your little fashionista and you will just melt. Liv got this dress for the holidays. She is wearing a 2T now in dresses but it seemed like it would cut it too close so I exchanged it for a 3T.

She had on some sparkly leggings from the Children's Place (2 for $18 - and they have ones with lace on the bottom that are a staple every season in Liv's wardrobe) and her black patent leather mary jane shoes (Jumping Jacks) and a a little shrug cardigan - she looked adorable!!!

You can find these dresses many places but I have seen a good selection at Denny's, Shop Baby Trends, and Nordstrom. They are a little expensive ($70 +) but are so worth it for those special occasions. Maybe I should start a baby dress swap service...I mean, how often do they wear things like this?? It would be SUCH a waste if it never got worn again!!

Good Old Navy

While every third item I buy for myself gets a hole after 3 washes, I have found many good buys for Liv from Old Navy. They are great for basics like plain cotton pants for winter, capris for fall and spring, and shorts for summer. The prices are unbeatable. I just recently ordered some summer stuff for Liv. The basic cotton (french terry) shorts for girls are $6.50 each and only $4 if you buy two or more. Shop when they have one of their email coupons (which is probably every two months or so) and you can get them for even less! I bought her 5 pairs or so for $3 each!!! You cannot beat that! They currently come in 9 colors and range from sizes 6 months to 5T.
